Ride a Limo and Show Style and Class at Proms and Weddings
Limousines or limos are typically long luxury cars that are driven by chauffeurs. The passengers have the option of closing the soundproof glass partition to separate them from the driver and give them a little privacy. Limousines normally come in black or white although the colors have evolved to include magenta and blue.
Usually, limos are used on formal occasions such as weddings, proms, black tie events, and celebrity award shows. While limousines were used to be associated only with wealthy people, riding a limo nowadays is not solely for the rich and famous anymore.
Types of Limos
Back in 1915, a Winton Six Limousine is your typical limo where the driver is separated from his passengers by putting him in a compartment-like driver’s seat. This is not as long as the modern-day limo.
Today, limos come in different colors, makes and functions. A traditional limo can comfortably seat about five to seven passengers excluding the driver. The other seats behind the driver can be folded-up to make more room should the passenger want it.
The Town Car is the traditional limo and perhaps the most chauffeured limo in the US, Canada and Europe. Another type of limo is called a stretch with the same looks as the traditional Town Car, only longer. The most popular stretch limo is the Lincoln Town Car, a sedan that limo makers choose to convert into a stretch.
There have also been Corvettes and Volkswagen beetles that have been stretched to a limo to accommodate about six to ten passengers.
Limo Amenities and Uses
Most limousines have a mini bar inside, car phone, leather seats, and even a hot tub for the really pampered passengers. You may choose to have your limo customized and even put in armoring and bulletproof windows and glasses.
Other than the usual weddings and proms, limousines are used nowadays for corporate transfers, airport drop off and pick up, stag parties, bachelorette parties, clubbing, vacation tours, and practically any other occasion you want to use it. In fact, often a group of friends will just all chip in to rent a limo and ride around town in it.
There’s no doubt that a limo is a luxury car, but it is no longer just for the rich, famous and the richly infamous. Anyone who can’t afford to get one can just as easily rent one for the day and live like royalty for a couple of hours. It’s a joyride you wouldn’t want to miss.
