Nutritionist Vacancies and Food Jobs in Healthcare and Hospitals
A nutritionist is a food and health specialist who studies the effect food has on the body and its overall impact to a person’s wellbeing. There are a lot of nutritionists who are either licensed or not although there are those who are not licensed but are certified or registered. It depends on what the law of the state requires from them. The work of nutritionists is in essence the same as that of dietitians. The competition, therefore, for jobs and vacancies are not limited to nutritionists only but includes dietitians as well.
Nutritionist Vacancies
However, are there nutritionist vacancies? Is there a promise to this kind of job? Most nutritionist vacancies can be found in hospitals, healthcare facilities like nursing homes, and offices of physicians or group of physicians. There are various kinds of nutritionist vacancies in various offices. The primary duty of nutritionist is to plan the diet program and supervise compliance with this program. The program focuses on the treatment and prevention of diseases through proper diet. Also, these jobs involve counseling patients as to what kind of diet is appropriate for them; for example, lesser salt intake for people with hypertension or less sugar intake for people with diabetes.
Nutritionist vacancies are found all over the whole food service and health networks such as hospitals and schools. In schools, nutritionist duties consist of creating programs to promote healthy eating habits. However, the major nutritionist vacancies include positions like clinical nutritionist, community nutritionist, management nutritionist, and consultant nutritionist.
Increasing Demand
There is a great promise that there will be more demand for food specialists, and more nutritionist vacancies will open either in private or government service. In 2004, there were estimated nutritionist vacancies of 50,000, most of which were filled easily. Most of these vacancies were in hospitals, healthcare facilities and outpatient facilities. There were also government nutritionist vacancies for correctional facilities and health offices. There were vacancies in the food service industry as well as establishments that provide food service like colleges, airlines and cafeterias. There were also a lot of nutritionist vacancies in family and home healthcare. It is expected that more nutritionist vacancies will open as people become more aware of the value of their diet to their health. It is also expected that, as more people grow old, the corresponding demand for nutritionist will also increase. There will be more nutritionist vacancies in hospitals, schools, residential healthcare, and others.
