These wheelchairs are blessing to people who have such poor or even absent mobility. The absence of mobility could be caused by various diseases like paralysis or weak bones and muscles. They could also be caused by old age.
These types of wheelchairs are easy to use. And yes, even fun to maneuver around! It is basically like playing with a remote control car. You would have your own joystick that you could use to control the wheelchair. It is easy to maneuver. You wouldn’t have difficulty turning around or from left to right as it can definitely allow you to turn 360 degrees!
Kinds of Electric Wheelchairs
It has become a trend to design electric wheelchairs according to the preference of the user. Technological advancements have made it possible to design wheelchairs that are extremely durable.
There are three kinds of electric wheelchairs:
- Rear-wheel drive. These are the regular kinds of wheelchairs. These allow more speed but you shouldn’t expect as much mobility when you are using these kinds of wheelchairs. They do not allow for flexible mobility like the other types of electric wheelchairs would. You cannot easily turn on this thing.
- Front-wheel drive. This kind is gaining rapid popularity in the market. This is not surprising since this type gives more flexibility to the user; although they could be a tad slower.
- Mid-wheel drive. This type of wheelchair is the best when you would want to spend the whole day turning; although, this could be a little unsteady on the other features.
